Dalene Kurtis was working at an insurance company in her hometown of Bakersfield, CA, when she decided on a whim to move to Los Angeles and see what life had to offer there. A few months later, Dalene was invited to a party at the Playboy Mansion, and caught the eye of the magazine's founder, Hugh Hefner. Dalene was soon picked to be the September 2001 Playmate of the Month, and in April of 2002, it was announced she'd won the coveted honor of 2002 Playmate of the Year.
