Synopsis by Hal Erickson

A three-part series for cable's Discovery Health Channel, Plastic Surgery: Before & After was hosted and narrated by Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Jan Adams, author of Everything Women of Color Should Know About Cosmetic Surgery. Combining graphic O.R. footage with computer graphics, the series took a scientific approach to the art of plastic surgery, pointing out that the procedures were used to save lives as often as to soothe patients' vanity. The personal stories of those who had gone "under the knife" were related via interviews and videotapes of surgery in progress. The series was originally telecast on July 10, 17, and 24, 2003.
