Synopsis by Hal Erickson

This tawdry exploitationer warns the viewer that one little sin leads to bigger ones, "domino" fashion. The hero, a farm boy named Jimmy, is happily engaged to sweet little May. But Jimmy falls under the influence of pool-hall habitue Louie, and before long our hero has spent his life savings. To make back the loss, he all but sells his wife into prostitution. As May languishes in the red-light establishment of Madame Francine, Jimmy collects her earnings and splits them with Louie. By and by, May contracts syphilis, while Jimmy, Louie and Madame Francine are duly dispatched with police bullets. During its initial New York engagement, Pitfalls of Passion was double-billed with the "educational" short subject The Mysteries of Sex.
