Synopsis by Mark Deming

P.I.N.S. stands for Parking Infringement Notification System, and this offbeat documentary from Australia takes a close look at the professional and personal lives of three men who have devoted their careers to monitoring and enforcing Melbourne's parking laws. When not writing tickets or checking meters, Paul is a bodybuilder who has just been shown the door by his girlfriend, and spends much of his free time trying to win her back, with little success. Rob is something of a tyrant who enjoys his work and doesn't mind arguing with a driver who doesn't believe they deserved a parking ticket. And while Warrick was once a competitive swimmer, today he's a flabby wrestling enthusiast who isn't sure if he's ready to get married; once he takes the plunge, he watches his relationship collapse in a matter of months. P.I.N.S. was premiered at the 2000 Melbourne Film Festival.
