Synopsis by Mark Deming
Getty Images manages one of the largest photographic archives in the world, maintaining a vast variety of pictures from different eras and devoted to almost any topic imaginable. However, there are some requests that are impossible to meet, and filmmaker Laurie Hill offers a whimsical look at what they can and can't deliver in this animated short subject. Matthew Butson, an employee with Getty Images and The Hulton Archive, describes some of the more unusual and unfathomable requests he's received -- such as photographs of Jack the Ripper, the Yeti, a dodo in the wild, an aerial battle over London during World War II, and even Jesus Christ -- and how he tries to let his clients down gently when he tells them no such photos exist. As Butson speaks, Hill's animated images brings some of Getty's images to humorous life. Photograph Of Jesus was an official selection at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
