Synopsis by Mark Deming
Featuring the finest golfers from the United States and Europe competing for the sport's greatest prize, the Ryder Cup is perhaps the single most anticipated tournament in professional golf, and the 34th match for the Cup was one of the most eagerly anticipated. Not only was the 2002 tournament the first of the new millennium, but it had spent an extra year on the back burner, as the event, originally scheduled for the fall of 2001, had been postponed for the first time since World War II due to the attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. on September 11. This video features two and a half hours of highlights from the 34th Ryder Cup competition, as Tiger Woods, Paul Azinger, Phil Mickelson, David Love III, Curtis Strange, and other world-class golfers attempt to prove their superiority on the links.
