Synopsis by Mark Deming

Petula Clark's breezy, sophisticated singing style made her one of the world's biggest pop stars in the '60s and early '70s, and while her popularity may have faded in the United States, she remains a favorite recording artist and concert attraction in Europe. Recorded during a special appearance at the Virginia Arts Festival, this video finds Clark in fine form as she performs a special concert featuring a number of her biggest pop hits -- including "Downtown," "A Sign of the Times," "I Know a Place," "Don't Sleep in the Subway," and many more -- along with several popular show tunes and duets with Lou Rawls ("You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine") and Richard Carpenter ("For All We Know").
