After years of industrious laziness, Uncle Joe (Edgar Buchanan) suddenly announces his retirement. This declaration results in a great deal of good-natured razzing from his friends: After all, what exactly is Joe retiring from? But everyone stops laughing when Joe, his feelings wounded, vows to leave Hooterville--and never come back!
