Synopsis by Mark Deming

Few if any acts that emerged from the early '60s folk music boom enjoyed the popular acclaim and lasting impact of Peter, Paul and Mary. With their crisp harmonies and superlative ear for songs that entertained while expressing a message, the trio represented the restless but ambitious spirit of the 1960s while maintaining their activist credentials and musical integrity into the 21st century. Peter, Paul and Mary: Carry It On -- A Musical Legacy is a documentary (produced for public television with the group's participation) that combines newsreel footage of the group in their prime with recent interviews and performances to deliver a full portrait of the group's professional career and personal mission. Songs include "If I Had a Hammer," "Lemon Tree," "Leaving on a Jet Plane," "Wedding Song (There Is Love)," "Blowin' in the Wind," "The Great Mandala (The Wheel of Life)," and many more.
