Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

The premise for this Yugoslavian wartime drama by director Igor Pretnar may find some viewers objecting. Two concentration-camp inmates are sent into an elegant home, used by the SS elite, to defuse an unexploded bomb. Naturally, they are left alone in the vast mansion. Rather than focus on the bomb, they explore the home and after finding some deluxe evening suits that fit, and a stash of cigarettes and champagne, they get dressed up and enjoy the fruits of their non-labor. Along the way, they discover that an attractive French deportee is also in the house and the three settle into philosophical discussions on the meaning of life. Of course, both the meaning and their lives are going to be in jeopardy soon unless they can come up with an escape plan.
