Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

In the early 1900s the locomotive revolutionized travel, opening up a whole new world for the adventurous itinerant. Each station seemed a gateway to a wondrous new world, and seemed to possess their own distinct personality. From the departure of soldiers set to fight in World Wars to the cheerful arrival of long lost relatives, they were the sight of many emotional moments. Not only this, but they also revolutionized politics by allowing politicians to get closer to voters than ever before. In this documentary produced by Penn State Public Broadcasting, viewers receive the rare opportunity to explore these remarkable train stations and meet the very people responsible for preserving them. With stops at such Pennsylvania landmarks as East Mohanoy Junction in Schuylkill County, Columbia Station in Chester County, and The Pennsylvanian Apartments in Allegheny County, this is one ticket that's sure to thrill locomotive enthusiasts of all ages.
