Synopsis by Janiss Garza

When Peggy Manners (Mary Miles Minter) comes back from finishing school, she discovers that her father (Andrew Arbuckle) isn't the astute businessman she thought he was. As a matter of fact, his grocery store can't even earn a profit. So Peggy steps in and turns it around. Roland Gardiner, a wealthy, but nasty, landowner lives near their little village, and his son (Allan Forrest) falls in love with Peggy. Gardiner disapproves of the union, and he is entertaining a mother and daughter (Margaret Shelby, Minter's real-life sister), who hope to nab the young man. But a big storm leaves the Gardiners without food or supplies, and Gardiner is forced to come to the Manners' grocery store for a few items. Peggy, knowing she has him in a hole, sells him a ham, some cheese, and crackers at outrageously inflated prices -- $1,086, to be exact. Gardiner likes her spunk and finally approves of her romance with his son.
