A free-spirited woman is challenged after she enters a union with the man she has married in this Edward H. Griffith-directed drama adapted from a 1927 stage play. Mary Archer (Ann Harding), who has just wed Jim Hutton (Fredric March), believes that she should still be able to enjoy physical companionship with other acquaintances. After Mary actually initiates a relationship outside of her marriage, however, drama ensues, which threatens to tear the couple apart.
