Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
A neurotic love for a weak-willed woman leads to a brief marriage, a separation, and a final confrontation in this melodrama from Hong Kong starring Eddie Chan as Ai Ti, a passionate taxi-driver and Chiang Li-ping as the object of his desire. Ai Ti cuts off his finger to show how much he loves his pregnant fiancée, and so she reluctantly marries him but gets an abortion after they are husband and wife. Unable to continue in the marriage, the wife escapes and eventually becomes the lover of a wealthy physician. Many years after they separate, Ai Ti runs into her once again -- and begins to profess his old feelings with the same neurotic ardor as before, forcing their mutual problems to a final resolution.
