Synopsis by Alice Duncan
The lives and remarkable achievements of two of the twentieth century's most-renowned explorers are examined in this documentary from Outside Magazine. Sir Edmund Hillary was the first person to climb to the summit of Mt. Everest. Sir Wilfred Thesiger mapped the Arabian peninsula, photographed its natural beauty, and documented the people's way of life. Using these men's own words - along with footage from their lives and the places to which they devoted their bodies, minds, and hearts - the program considers their accomplishments and attempts to understand their passion (or obsession) for these places and their adventurous, often-perilous occupations.
