A most unusual and interesting documentary from Germany, Oskar and Jack profiles the lives of two twin boys separated in childhood and the wildly disparate lives they led. The title twins were born of the early '30s shipboard romance between a German woman and a Romanian Jew en route to America. Shortly after the boys' birth, the couple divorced. The mother took Oskar back to Germany while Jack moved to Trinidad with his father. Oskar was raised as a Hitler Youth while Jack had to cope with being the only white boy in his area. Jack became obsessed with his Jewish heritage and grew up to serve in the Israeli army. Meanwhile, Oskar grew tired of Nazi dogma and in rebellion against his step-father, became a communist. The brothers didn't meet for the first time until they were in their '20s. Unfortunately, their radically different lives caused considerable friction and did not reconcile until many years later. In the film, much of their early lives are shown with old home movie footage.
