Aleksandr Pushkin's Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Knights known as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to English-speaking audiences provides the storyline for this conventional fairy tale. Just as a young princess is about to marry her handsome prince, her evil and truly gorgeous stepmother, after querying her mirror on "who is the fairest of them all," sends her packing. The seven well-built heroes who give the princess shelter are anything but dwarfs and certainly capable of rescuing her. Thanks to their ingenuity and muscle, they are instrumental in making sure the princess and the now frantic prince are reunited, no matter what the stepmother thinks.
