This Swedish drama is based on the diaries of Erik Torstensson, who was a warden at a home for young mentally ill women. The movie provides an unsparing look at the relationship between the keepers of the mentally ill and the mentally ill themselves. The film, which was previously a stage play, was very popular in Sweden.
