Synopsis by Robert Firsching

Future mainstream filmmaker Shun Nakahara was very much in demand after graduating fromTokyo University, but came to Nikkatsu for the freedom the studio traditionally gave its filmmakers. His first effort is a strikingly well-made pinku eiga drama starring Yoshiko Ariake as Hineko, a tough-minded careerist who has always put her job before romance. It takes an equally ruthless and handsome business competitor (Yoshimitsu Onimaru) to sweep her off her feet. While sticking to the studio's "four an hour" rule concerning sex scenes, Nakahara has made an assured and remarkably grown-up debut which transcends its genre to emerge as an honest, engaging look at sexuality and the defense mechanisms which people use to keep themselves strong. This is an "adult film" in the truest sense of the word. Yuki Kazamatsuri co-stars with Hiroshi Unayama and Reiko Natsu.
