The Maya evolved an advanced culture with complex social, economic, and political developments. Maya: Lords of the Jungle reveals that the Mayans may have enjoyed a prosperous trade in salt, while raising crops in the jungle. No one is really certain why the culture disappeared around 900 A.D., but experts discuss theories involving dwindling natural resources as a possible factor.
