Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
In this Portuguese political thriller, identifying who is doing what to whom becomes something of a problem. Lucia (Maria Cabral) is an aristocrat who has broken with her family and is dabbling at revolution and bohemianism. At one point, she forms an attachment with Francesco (Paco Nieto), a young revolutionary who does some smuggling on the side. He decides to try to visit her to rekindle their romance and in doing so runs afoul of an unidentified cabal. He dies without ever seeing Lucia, and news of his death sends her back into the arms of her family.
