Synopsis by Cavett Binion

This demented horror anthology from Brazil's premier cult horror auteur Jose Mojica Marins continues the bizarre themes of mad genius, religious transgression and sexual depravity evident in much of his work. It is composed of three short vignettes: in the first, a quartet of thugs victimize an old dollmaker and his pretty daughters -- much to their own peril. Next, a lonely hunchback's obsession with a young girl continues after her death. And finally, a mad professor tests out his theories about Man's agressive instincts on his chief detractor by subjecting him and his wife to diabolical tortures in his household dungeon. The product of Marins' first collaboration with author Rubens Lucchetti, this film marks the director's growing penchant for self-indulgent weirdness (giving his films a quality reminiscent of Federico Fellini) without the winking asides which would temper his later work, and is clearly one of his most disturbingly violent and perverse projects.
