Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

In Rajasthan, India, there exists a group of folk musicians named Musafir. The group is comprised of musicians from all castes and religions. Translated, their name means "nomad." In this documentary from filmmakers Pierre-Yves Perez and Cedric Dupire, we follow tabla player Hameed Khan as he travels between Paris and Jaipur collecting talented musicians and schooling them in the Musafir repertoire. Hameed's role is to harmonize and unite each cast of musicians, which has its own repertoire, instruments, and particular style. By uniting them all, Hameed not only helps to create an entirely new and unique kind of music, but helps to conquer the social conflicts that have divided India for centuries.
