Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Tom Smith and his wife (Kenneth Harlan and Jewel Carmen) vacation in Palm Beach, where Mrs. Smith attracts the attention of millionaire John Rossmore (William Davidson). Rossmore convinces the couple that he can help the husband's career, so Tom goes back to New York and leaves his wife behind. When she returns she has lost her memory and shortly thereafter Rossmore is found murdered. Suspicion falls on his butler, Hedges (J. Herbert Frank), and Smith is picked for the jury when he is tried. But while the others vote for conviction, he is the one holdout. Finally he reveals the truth -- his wife had been raped by Rossmore, and the trauma caused her aphasia. While in this condition, she went to his home, pumped him full of lead and came home as if everything had been a dream. She revealed all this to her husband while in a subconscious trance. As a result, Hedges is freed. Director Roland West, who also wrote the story (and who was married to star Jewel Carmen), was temporarily a suspect himself in a murder fourteen years later. His business partner -- and former lover -- comic actress Thelma Todd was found asphyxiated in her car, not far from the building that housed both their restaurant and their apartments. West had nothing to do with her death, however, which was almost certainly a mob hit.
