Based on the classic Yugoslavian tragedy, No Klancu, or In the Gorge, this film chronicles the situation of a woman who is ambitious for a better life but is restricted by her social class, among other things. Though she is abandoned over time by her husband and her sons, she somehow comes to be able to accept her situation; this lends her an unsought, but moving dignity.
