Newfoundland is one of the Atlantic Provinces of Canada, located between lush Nova Scotia and the sparseness of the country of Iceland. Due to its northern climate, it is not a favored spot for agriculture, and, aside from fishing, boasts few indigenous sources of income. Despite that, it has been settled for a long time. In this melodrama, the feuding, disagreeable sons of a Newfoundland patriarch have all left to make their fortunes elsewhere, but are reunited at the time of his death. Back at home for the first time in years, they bicker and quarrel over everything. The one thing they all agree on is that the relocation of heavy industry to the region has destroyed whatever charms it ever had.
