Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Convict number 99, also known as Arthur Penryn (J. Warren Kerrigan), escapes from prison and winds up in the bedroom of Cynthia Vivian (Fritzi Brunette). He inspires her sympathy, and at the party her family is throwing, she has him pose as her brother's friend, Philip Valentine, who can't make it. It starts off well since Penryn -- unlike your average convict -- knows how to behave in a gentlemanly fashion. Even the prison guards who come and scour the Vivian home don't realize that their man is one of the guests. But things get complicated when Penryn's former sweetheart (Lilia Leslie) turns up, as does John Brandt (Charles Arling), the man who sent him to jail in the first place. All this, and Penryn's eventual discovery, doesn't put a halt to his romance with Cynthia and their elopement. In the end, it's discovered that he's not a criminal after all. This picture was based on a magazine story by Wyndham Martyn.
