This documentary of New York City by French director Pierre-Dominique Gaisseau visits the many ethnic neighborhoods. Chinatown, Harlem, and communities with people of Jewish, Puerto Rican, Italian, and Ukrainian descent incorporate old world ways with life in the Big Apple. The commentary is often irritating, as the French narrator expresses his viewpoint that the people "stubbornly" follow the old ways instead of simply becoming American."
