In this documentary that chronicles the years between their graduation in 1930 and their retirement, sixteen teachers talk about why they chose their profession, the hardships some of them suffered in lean years in small towns with few resources, their difficulties under the Nazis in World War II, and continued problems under the later Communists - until life found a status quo at just about the time they were to retire.
