This final episode continues to explore the inner experiences of the characters as humanity merges into one unit as part of the Human Instrumentality Project. Struggling to defend his own existence, Shinji goes on a journey of his own consciousness, exploring what his world could be like if he were not an Eva pilot, and reaching a fulfilling understanding of how there are many possibilities for just who and what he can be.
