Nelita True at Eastman, Vol. 2: The Studio Lesson
Share on
Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This video is part of a series of music lessons presented by piano master Nelita True, to serve as a model in teacher-student interactions during private piano lessons. True shows how positive reinforcement and the use of metaphors help a piano student develop sensitivity to the composer's intent, and then make a meaningful interpretation and rendering of the Romantic style. Selections from Papillons, Opus 2 by Robert Schumann are used to illustrate how the teacher can approach the student for optimum results in communicating these ideas.
