Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Nature's Half Acre was Disney's 1951 entry in the studio's "True Live Adventures" series. Like its predecessors Seal Island (1949) and Beaver Valley (1950), this 32-minute, Technicolor documentary was an Academy Award winner. Narrated by Winston Hibler (who also wrote the script), the film concentrates on birds, bees and various colorful insects. The best sequences include a caterpillar wresting free of its cocoon and some lyrical shots of bees collecting pollen. Nature's Half Acre was later featured on the February 9, 1955 episode of TV's Disneyland, then again on the June 11, 1961 installment of Walt Disney Presents.
