The National Parks and Monuments of the United States are America's gifts to herself. The millions of acres that have been set aside guarantee that there will always be wild places for those alive today, and for future generations. This program is part of a series that showcases some of the treasures in this unique American legacy that benefits humans, as well as the flora and fauna of these special places. This program takes the viewer to Yosemite National Park in California. The grandeur of the park, with its rugged peaks, vast forests, and abundant wildlife is captured in film and photographs. Historians relate the history of the park's geology, as well as some of the people and events that have shaped its colorful past.
