Synopsis by Ed Atkinson
This National Geographic documentary explores the plight of the mountain gorilla, a species whose population is in steady decline due to poaching and the human occupation of its natural habitat. The film focuses on the career of famed researcher Dian Fossey (the inspiration for Gorillas in the Mist) and her work to protect gorillas in Rwanda. Her techniques and efforts are juxtaposed with the efforts of scientists in the U.S. to breed gorillas in captivity.
