Synopsis by Alice Day

The Simien and Bale mountain ranges in Ethiopia have kept would-be conquerors away over the centuries, but they have also isolated the country from outside influences. The Ark of the Covenant is said to be here, and Christianity is the primary religion, with many Ethiopians singularly devoted to their faith. Africa, Pt. 4: Mountains documents the efforts of two young men, whose daily activities revolve around religious duty. Kibkab Wondemariam aspires to the priesthood, and Abba Defar is carving a church out of solid rock near Lalibela, site of 11 other such churches.
