Synopsis by Ed Atkinson
Follow jazz/fusion drummer extraordinaire Jack DeJohnette through this 100-minute intensive study of improvisational percussion. DeJohnette and special guest percussionist Harvey Sorgen rumble their way through technique after technique, paying special attention to phrasing, timekeeping, melody, cymbal play, stick and brush use, and bass/hi-hat synchronization. Staying true to his fusion roots, DeJohnette covers and crosses raggae, rock, funk, and Latin beats while philosophizing on the theory of playing improvisational drums. This is not a tape for the beginner, but it will help anyone who wishes to take the next step toward becoming a professional drummer.
