Photographer and art dealer Alfred Stieglitz was instrumental in emphasizing the importance of photography, and was influential in the art world, bringing the works of Picasso, Matisse, and Cèzanne to the attention of Americans. He supported American artists Georgia O'Keefe, Arthur Dove, and John Marin.
