Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

P.C. Barua directs this critically acclaimed melodrama about art and fidelity. Though artist Prasanta (Barua) is in love with his wife Chitra (Kenan Devi), their marriage is in trouble. While Chitra's conservative wealthy family continues to be scandalized by her husband's vocation, Prasanta passionately, obsessively paints nude models. Since neither he nor she are willing to compromise their principles, the marriage dissolves and they get a divorce. While Prasanta retreats to the jungle where he finds refuge with the elephants, Chitra marries the fantastically wealthy Bipul (Mukherjee). As he finds solace in the arms of barkeep's wife Jharna (Menaka) and makes enemies with a fiendish trader, the newly married couple venture on an elephant hunt, killing Prasanta's beloved pet. Later, the evil trader kidnaps Chitra and Prasanta sacrifices his life to save her.
