Synopsis by Dan Pavlides

This story is taken from the Nobel Prize winning book by Miguel Angel Asturias of Guatemala. In this story of Latin American corruption, the village idiot kills an army colonel after enduring endless sadistic taunts. The president tries to pin the murder on his political rival. The president sends an operative to fuel the rumor mill but he falls for the accused man's daughter. He defects to the other side and helps the daughter and her father starta revolution with inside information on the corrupt leader. Asturias sent a telegram to the Venice Film Festival denying permission to show the feature, but the letter arrived a day late. The unfortunate audience then had to endure this maloderous melodrama.
