Synopsis by Olivia Cantor
Comedian Amy Poehler directs this coming-of-age movie adapted from the novel by Jennifer Matthieu. She plays Lisa, the seemingly typical mother of 16-year-old Vivian (Hadley Robinson). But when the teen discovers that her mother was a fierce feminist firebrand when she was 16 years old herself, she tries to find inspiration from her mom’s past to adapt some lessons to her present—especially since her high school reeks of sexism and toxic masculinity. Vivian secretly publishes a zine similar to what her mom had before. Soon, her school witnesses the rebirth of patriarchy-smashing.
