Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith

Fans of such movies as Jurassic Park, The Lost World, and King Kong will find special pleasure in learning more about how the huge creatures and beasts in those films were made to look so real and life-like. This program is one of the segments of the Discovery Channel's Movie Magic series. Viewers will learn what "animatronics" are and how stop-motion animation is used to help these fake creatures appear as those they are moving about right near the actors on the screen. A number of fake, though rather frightening-looking reptiles from prehistoric times are shown onscreen as the animators and others discuss their work.
