Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This cinema verite documentary follows the filmmaker as he seeks out an indigent young couple at a welfare office and gets their agreement for him to follow them around with his camera and shoot their lives. Unusually for such a situation, the director briefly "adopts" the couple, taking them into his daily life, which leads to the breakup of his own family life. A particularly notable feature of this film is that this was the last officially "East German" film made before the reunification of the two Germanies.
