Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Morena Clara is a faithful rendition of the popular Spanish stage play by Antonio Quintero and Pascual Guilleo. Replacing the stage version's Carmen Diaz as the heroine is the equally talented Imperio Argentina. Set in Andalusia, the film details the comic capers of warm-hearted gypsy lass Trini (Argentina), who finds herself in court on a charge of stealing hams. Attracted to the prosecuting attorney (Miguel Ligero), Trini invites herself into the attorney's staid household. Her unbounded energy and good nature spreads to every one in the house -- and, of course, the attorney eventually falls in love with the girl. Lavishly produced, Morena Clara was one of the biggest hits of the 1935-36 season.
