Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Although she is best remembered as the Little Sister in D.W. Griffith's Birth of a Nation, Mae Marsh spent most of the 1910s essaying such a broad selection of roles that the Goldwyn studios, where she was employed in 1918, called her "the girl with a thousand personalities." Here, she is Elsie, a schoolgirl who turns detective to uncover a strange situation involving her stepfather. Martin Ross, the stepfather (John Sainpolis), is a devotee of the occult and has married Elsie's mother (Florida Kingsley) for her money. With the help of his Hindu servant, Sima (Macey Harlam), he orchestrates the murder of Mrs. Ross. After her mother's death, Elsie is sent away to school and when she returns, she finds Ross under the spell of Sima and a woman named Fannette (Corinne Barker). Elsie turns to Billy Gavin, her childhood sweetheart (Rod LaRocque), for help and together they trick the mysterious trio into confessing to Mrs. Ross' murder. Elsie receives the inheritance due her, and she and Billy wed.
