Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Everyone knows that gas has completely revolutionized such tasks as traveling and cooking, and in this installment of the History Channel's Modern Marvels, filmmakers highlight the crucial role that this invisible state of matter plays in keeping our 24/7 society moving no matter what obstacles seem to stand in our way. From wellhead to stovetop and everything in between, gas has been a crucial component of society from as far back as 3rd Century B.C. China. Could it be that the world's most plentiful gas (Hydrogen) is also the most powerful? A visit to the British Oxygen Company's Braddock Air Separation Plant illuminates the cryogenic world of industrial gasses, and after that viewers are invited to the Bush Dome Helium Reserve in Texas to discover why the U.S. government is storing thirty-six billion cubic feet of helium at the site.
