In 1998, Modern Drummer magazine sponsored a weekend-long music festival in which the timekeepers who usually have to sit at the back of the bandstand finally got their day in the sun. This video presents highlights from Sunday's program, with jazz fusion virtuoso Dave Weckl, Nashville session percussionist Eddie Bayers, frame drum artist Glen Velez, and Jojo Mayer of the eclectic rock group Screaming Headless Torsos all showing off their chops. Modern Drummer Festival: Weekend 1998 -- Sunday also features interviews with the musicians as they discuss their craft, as well as visits from some other famous drummers in attendance.
