Synopsis by Mark Deming

While baseball is well-known as America's pastime, the game has also been quite popular in Japan for decades, and as generations of Japanese fans have grown up watching and playing baseball, it was inevitable that some of their great players would come to the United States to show their skills in the country that gave birth to the game. MLB: Rising Sons is a documentary produced by Major League Baseball, which examines the recent swell of Japanese athletes in American baseball and includes footage of Hideo Nomo, Kazuhiro Sasaki, Ichiro Suzuki, and other stars who are bringing a new excitement to the old ball game.
