Apparently inspired by the theatrical feature Meet the Parents, the NBC reality series Meet My Folks delivered just what the title promised. On each episode, three prospective boyfriends of the same young lady were obliged to spend the weekend with the girl's parents. During this period, the trio of would-be swains were mercilessly raked over the coals by mom and pop (there was even a lie detector installed in the basement), to determine which of the three would make the perfect date. Whoever survived the ordeal and managed to prove himself worthy was not only allowed to take the girl out, but was also in line for fabulous cash and merchandise prizes.
