A man whom Matlock once represented in a bitter divorce proceeding is found murdered, and the prime suspect in the case is his wife. Years ago, when Jason and Carla divorced, Carla wound up gaining custody of the pair's young son. Now, Jason has discovered that Carla is working as a stripper. After threatening to take custody of their son, Jason is found near death and Carla is singled out as the main suspect. But when Matlock learns of a woman named Helen Shelly, his suspicions begin to shift towards her for a number of compelling reasons.
