Synopsis by Hal Erickson
M*A*S*H moved from Saturday to Tuesday evening for its third-season opener, "The General Flipped at Dawn." Harry Morgan makes his first appearance on the series -- not in his soon-to-be familiar role of Col. Potter, but as Two-Star General Bartford Hamilton Steele. Determined to whip the 4077th into shape, the merciless Steele strikes terror in the hearts of everyone except gung-ho Frank Burns (Larry Linville). But soon even Frank must admit what is painfully obvious: The old General is as nutty as a fruitcake. The episode's court-martial climax is one of the series' most hilariously outrageous moments. "The General Flipped at Dawn" first aired on September 10, 1974.
